Standard Lesson & Road Test Appointment

90-minute lesson covering the Pre-Test Refresher and other common driving skills. This service includes the Florida Road Test required to obtain a driver's license.

Standard Lesson:

Think of the Standard Lesson as one final, professional lesson before driving responsibly with a driver’s license. Since the road test is somewhat basic, there are some students and families who wish to sign up for a lesson that covers more than the Pre-Test Refresher elements, which is why our team developed the Standard Lesson. Our goal during this lesson is first, to cover the Pre-Test Refresher elements- we need to ensure that the student can actually pass the test. Then, we hope to include other elements, such as highway/interstate driving, lane changes, and other scenarios the student will likely face while driving with a license. If the student requests to allocate the entire lesson to road test elements, that is acceptable.Instructors have the discretion to choose whether the student is ready for more advanced driving beyond the Pre-Test Refresher- for example, no one is guaranteed to drive on the interstate. If the instructor deems it is unsafe for the student and unsafe to other drivers on the road, interstate will not be included in the lesson; however, we will strive to push the limits as safely as we can to ensure students get the most out of this time without becoming a hazard to our roadways. If a new driver signs up for the Standard Lesson and is not ready to move beyond the basics, our instructors will tailor the class to meet the needs of the student. Either way, we will try to maximize the 90 minutes of the lesson. We ask that all students and families do a simple self-verification before signing up for this lesson. If confidence or behind-the-wheel skills are things you currently struggle with, we recommend looking at our New Driver Package. For students who feel comfortable behind the wheel and simply want an opportunity to polish up their skills, the Standard Lesson may be a great option.

Road Test:

The road test is the same skills test administered by the DMV. Applicants are evaluated on their ability to control the vehicle and obey traffic laws and signs. Additionally, applicants are required to conduct five maneuvers:

  • Straight-In Parking

  • Parking on a Hill

  • Quick Stop

  • Backing

  • Turnabout (3-Point Turn)

Test results are electronically submitted to the DMV immediately after the exam. If an applicant fails a test, he or she must wait at least 24 hours before the next attempt.
